Oglesby Library mourns the passing of Evelyn Moyle, December 5, 2017
Oglesby Library mourns the passing of Evelyn Moyle, a woman who dedicated many years and much time to improving the Oglesby Library.
Evelyn volunteered many hours organizing our Local History resource center, listing and filing articles, photographs, sound and video recordings, and books about the LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby area. She helped coordinate the writing and publishing of “Oglesby, Our Home Town, 1902-2002” and helped with the grant to build the current location, which was dedicated in March of 1998.
Evelyn was a member of the Oglesby Library Board of Trustees for 34 years, from 1981 to 2015, and she was President of the board from 1988 to 2014. After she resigned from the board in September of 2015 she was named president emeritus of the Oglesby Public Library Board.
A portion of the Oglesby Library is designated “Albert Moyle and Evelyn Moyle Local History Resource Center” in honor of Evelyn and her father (who had served on the board for 40 years) for their efforts in preserving Oglesby’s history.
