Children’s author, Newbery honor winner, and Oglesby native Marion Dane Bauer is returning to Oglesby for a visit on May 14, 2019. Her Newbery Honor title On My Honor is based on a real event in her childhood: a drowning in the Vermillion River. Fifth-grade students will have the chance to meet her during their school day; everyone can meet her at Oglesby Library in the evening starting at 6:00 PM. Come listen as she walks down memory lane, telling about growing up in Oglesby and about her interest in writing. Marion will read from her recent picture book, The Stuff of Stars, answer questions about the writing process, chat about life, and sign your personal copies of her books.
