Oglesby Library mourns the passing of Evelyn Moyle, a woman who dedicated many years and much time to improving the Oglesby Library.
Evelyn volunteered many hours organizing our Local History resource center, listing and filing articles, photographs, sound and video recordings, and books about the LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby area. She helped coordinate the writing and publishing of “Oglesby, Our Home Town, 1902-2002” and helped with the grant to build the current location, which was dedicated in March of 1998.
Evelyn was a member of the Oglesby Library Board of Trustees for 34 years, from 1981 to 2015, and she was President of the board from 1988 to 2014. After she resigned from the board in September of 2015 she was named president emeritus of the Oglesby Public Library Board.
A portion of the Oglesby Library is designated “Albert Moyle and Evelyn Moyle Local History Resource Center” in honor of Evelyn and her father (who had served on the board for 40 years) for their efforts in preserving Oglesby’s history.

Oglesby Library is hosting another Games Unplugged game day at the library on Saturday, November 28, 2017. Stop by the library between noon and 3:00 pm to play card, board, or table games. Bring friends and family members! Bring a favorite game to teach someone to play!
On Thurs., Sept. 21, 5:30 – 6:15 PM, artist Dan Laib is coming to Oglesby Library to do an entertaining and interactive kids presentation about art and design.
You’ll learn about the basic elements of design from stories, hand-painted puppets, magic, and live art demonstrations in a fun and entertaining way. At the conclusion of the show, you will step right into a popular fairy tale centered around design and be able to observe it firsthand.
This show is designed to be lots of fun and is sure to entertain, inform, and inspire you to greater creativity!
This program is supported by a grant from OmniArts.
The eclipse event was a big hit here on August 21, 2017. The weather looked like it was not going to cooperate with cloudy skies and even RAIN, but we watched NASA’s feed indoors until the rain stopped and we could watch the solar eclipse outdoors.
We had Oreos (because you can make your own picture of the eclipse with them) and popcorn (because we like popcorn).
Here are some photos from Summer Reading this summer. We enjoyed the stories and crafts and had tons of fun!
