Update to Fine Policy

Effective June 30, 2015:

The Oglesby Public Library Board of Trustees has voted to instate a zero-tolerance fine policy for patrons wishing to use the computers. Our current policy on fines for checking out physical materials from the library will remain unchanged. Please have a look at this notice for further information on the details of this change.

If you have any questions at all regarding this change or want to know the current standing of your account, please feel to call the library at 815-883-3619 or stop in to see us at your convenience!

Join Us for Our Summer Reading Program!

Starting Wednesday, June 10th at 1pm:

Read to the Rhythm at year’s Summer Reading Program!

Get ready to sing, dance, and make some noise at this music-themed youth event!

According to the Illinois Library Association, national research finds that students who participate in library summer reading programs scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those who did not participate.

Why not spend some time at your library this summer?

No sign-up is necessary and all children up to 5th grade are welcome to join us for story reading, crafts, music, and snacks! The program will run every Wednesday at the same time throughout June and into July. Please check the calendar for exact dates.

We recommend that a parent or guardian accompanies any children under the age of 8 to the program, but older children are welcome to be dropped off and picked up afterward.

Feel free to give us a call at 815-883-3619 if you have any questions!

A-DOOR-able Baby Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Brianna Nichole Rexroad along with her proud parents Amanda Peavler and Jake Rexroad!!!

We had a close race between eight simply adorable babies in the contest, but it was Brianna who came out on top and raised $85.05 for the library! Her and her family got to take home the grand prize, which was a $50 Visa gift card!

The Friends of the Library, the Oglesby Public Library Staff, and Library Board Members would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who participated and donated as part of this contest. We raised a large chunk of our goal towards building the door and we couldn’t have done it without you! The Staff and Board Members would also like to thank the Friends of the Library for facilitating the contest!
